It's True, I'm From Texas

I’m a Texas girl through and through. Raised off a dirt road, where the stars were bright and Buc-ee’s, BBQ, and boots were non-negotiables. If you see me jamming to Texas Country at a stoplight, don’t judge, just join in. I love a good two-step or waltz, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find me at the opera. I’m happily stuck in a musical tug-of-war that stretches from George Strait to Puccini. My Czech roots run deep: we’re talking kolaches, klobasniky, polka, and at least one onion in the pantry at all times.

There is nothing like getting lost in a good book; I enjoy reading the classics, biographies, historical, and Christian fiction. Music is a big part of my life. I’m not Beethoven, but I compose and play whenever I can. I have been writing since I can remember, and it has ranged from poetry to supporting ministries to working on a fictional book.

While attending Oral Roberts University, I had the opportunity to go on mission trips around the world. Those trips helped shape my perspective on life and deepen my empathy for others. They challenged my faith and showed me that you can find God in a remote village in Mongolia, just as you can in a church in Australia.

Overall, I’m an average person juggling life as a wife and mom, fighting adult acne, squeezing into skinny jeans I refuse to give up (honestly, I’ll probably be buried in them), and learning to live by faith. Beyond all that glamor, I’m trying to make sense of life through the lens of God’s truth, not mine, just like you. I don’t always get it right, but when I catch a glimpse of His grace, it takes my breath away.

A Passion for Scripture and Life

I’m not a theologian or historian, but I care a lot about scripture and how it relates to everyday life. I’m sharing my own thoughts as I connect the Bible, history, and Jewish teachings, because understanding the context matters. I do my best to study and reflect before I write, but I know I might make mistakes. I encourage you to read and research on your own—don’t just take my word for it.

Of course, not everyone will agree with what I share, and that’s okay. Even Jesus, who was perfect, had critics, so I’m in good company. Still, if anything here stirs your heart, draws you closer to Him, or helps you see God more clearly, know this: it’s not because of me, it’s because of Him.
